Louis Vuitton Monogram Empreinte Sorbonne Backpack

For  ladies who love everything about the Palm Springs Backpack but have been waiting for something more substantial, this post is dedicated to you. From Louis Vuitton comes the newish Monogram Empreinte Sorbonne Backpack that has been released in 3 easy-to-match colours, namely Cerise, Noir and Rose Poudre. And while it’s not exactly 100% similar in terms of style to the PS,  it’s close enough, especially when you’re distracted by the stamped buttery soft leather.

Its features are simple enough, its 27 cm by 25 cm body sporting a top handle, slings at the back (you know, to wear it like a backpack) and finished with a front zip pocket. Only available in this single size at the moment (the Sorbonne is slightly shorter than the Palm Springs PM Backpack but what it lacks in height, it makes up for in length and width), it is perfect for those who believe small is good and smaller is even better.

Great for a day out with sufficient interior pockets – zippered ones for your important essentials, and smartphone pockets for you to keep it all in safely and being truly handsfree while you’re out and about, the Sorbonne retails for SGD3450 (full leather, that’s why) and is currently available at all 3 LV boutiques in Singapore.

Louis Vuitton Introducing New Backpack Collection

Louis Vuitton News

louis-vuitton-backpacks-fall-2014

The trend of backpacks continue to climb, in fact, it’s so popular that Louis Vuitton decided to launch an entire new line. Obviously, they couldn’t ignore the fact that, backpacks have become hotter than the volcano.

Perhaps Chanel started this hype, with their graffiti backpacks that changed the way we dress. I mean, what’s cooler in the summer than carrying a graffiti-painted, self-made charms (the ones you put together when you get bored in the classroom) bag on your back and combined with street style fashion? I was skeptical at first until I spotted a few bloggers styling it, and they looked darn good.

Naturally, three of the four new Louis Vuitton backpacks need to be printed with the iconic monogram canvas. The design is strenghtend with two buckles non the front. It features two side pockets and a handle on the top. Are you read to climb the mountain?

Another one that Louis Vuitton is going to be released, is much more streamlined. Monogram Canvas is prohibited and it features a simple bucket closure on the front. It doesn’t even have side pockets. If you belief as much as I do, that simplicity is ultimate sophistication, then here you go.

Btw, the last Louis Vuitton backpack is also perfect for work. It’s easy and effortless.

LOUIS VUITTON LOCKME BACKPACK

Handbags

Louis-Vuitton-Lockme-backpack

Welcome to the Lockme Family, presenting the brand-new backpack made by Louis Vuitton. In short, everything what you need is packed in this beauty and… it got style!

Unlike all the other backpacks you’ve seen so far, the Louis Vuiton Lockme Backpack is one of a kind. And we will explain why?

Crafted from supple leather and bearing the discreet LV Twist Lock signature on the front flap, how can you not love this new fresh shape?

The two little leather threads are not only for decoration purpose, but they have a function as well. However, I like how they are hanging – playful.

Lightweight and feminine, it is a youthful daily companion for the active woman. Carry it for school or when you’re on holiday. It is comfortable to use for work as well – it is chic and luxurious enough.

The single colors make it easy for you to choose, but there are bi-colors available as well. And I love the combination of beige and blue. It’s unique but the two colors blend flawlessly together, and it gives a relaxing appeal.

So who needs a backpack?

Measuring 8.7′ x 11′ x 5.1′ (L x H x W) inches, priced at $2840 USD, €1980 euro or £1600 GBP via Louis Vuitton boutique.

THE LOUIS VUITTON PALM SPRINGS BACKPACK PM

Travel

Satisfying a thriving interest in monogram products while courting higher-end consumers with more expensive and exclusive leather options is a difficult balancing act, and it’s not one that Louis Vuitton has always pulled off perfectly. The brand has made strides in its leather game under the creative direction of Nicolas Ghesquiere, though, and now that monograms feel trendy again, LV has debuted at least one bag that I’m betting will capitalize on the increased interest: the Louis Vuitton Palm Springs Backpack PM.

Taking the ubiquitous LV monogram and making it feel fresh without changing it significantly is a tall order, but it’s something this design accomplishes. Stripping it of the beige vachetta leather trim that most of LV’s monograms sport helps a lot; the black leather feels luxe and sporty simultaneously, which is a combination that’s huge in seasonal fashion right now and makes the monogram feel current by association. The casual, simple backpack shape is also important, and both it and the trim remove the print from its traditional, somewhat stuffy original context. It’s a monogram bag that can appeal to consumers who weren’t old enough to buy designer bags last time monograms were cool.

The bag is part of the brand’s current Cruise 2016 collection, and we’ve already spotted it on the arms of Chiara Ferragni and Kylie Jenner, who are exactly the type young, high-profile women who can introduce Vuitton to a new group of potential customers. For my part, it’s the only Louis Vuitton bag I’ve felt drawn to in recent memory, as well as the only one I’ve thought might make sense with my own personal style. That’s not exactly a tiny shift for someone like me, who doesn’t gravitate toward logos at all.

The bag is also well-positioned in Louis Vuitton’s price structure for it to make maximum impact: at $1,650, it hits a full-on luxury price point without being as astronomically unobtainable as the brand’s leather options. The Palm Springs is a very smart addition to the brand’s lineup, and I’d love to make it an addition to my closet.
