Louis Vuitton Monogram Canvas Popincourt Bag Reference Guide

Handbags

Introducing the Louis Vuitton Monogram Canvas Popincourt. The brand has brought back the iconic bag, that was first released in 2005. The bag which was named after a Paris market, was unfortunately discontinued sometime in 2010. The original design features two new styles, the Popincourt Haut which is a shoulder bag, and the Popincourt, a smaller size with top handles. For Spring/Summer 2017, Louis Vuitton has updated the design of the bag that is still made of their signature Monogram Canvas. It now comes with a colored calf-leather trim like Black, Saforn Imperial, Red, Marine, Taupe Glace and Raisin. It has two handles and includes a removable and adjustable shoulder strap. The exterior of the bag features a zippered pocket with a padlock. The interior is made of micro-fiber lining with 2 smartphone pockets and 2 large outside pockets. Available in 2 sizes, MM and PM.

Louis Vuitton Monogram Empreinte Sorbonne Backpack

Travel

IMAGE: LOUIS VUITTON

For  ladies who love everything about the Palm Springs Backpack but have been waiting for something more substantial, this post is dedicated to you. From Louis Vuitton comes the newish Monogram Empreinte Sorbonne Backpack that has been released in 3 easy-to-match colours, namely Cerise, Noir and Rose Poudre. And while it’s not exactly 100% similar in terms of style to the PS,  it’s close enough, especially when you’re distracted by the stamped buttery soft leather.

Its features are simple enough, its 27 cm by 25 cm body sporting a top handle, slings at the back (you know, to wear it like a backpack) and finished with a front zip pocket. Only available in this single size at the moment (the Sorbonne is slightly shorter than the Palm Springs PM Backpack but what it lacks in height, it makes up for in length and width), it is perfect for those who believe small is good and smaller is even better.

Great for a day out with sufficient interior pockets – zippered ones for your important essentials, and smartphone pockets for you to keep it all in safely and being truly handsfree while you’re out and about, the Sorbonne retails for SGD3450 (full leather, that’s why) and is currently available at all 3 LV boutiques in Singapore.

Louis Vuitton Monogram Tressage Collection

Handbags

IMAGE: LOUIS VUITTON

Translated simply, the French word tressage just means weaved or plaiting, and if you were to look at the bags above, from Louis Vuiton’sSpring-Summer 2017 collection, it all makes natural sense. Known as the Monogram Tressage collection, these vertical totes are pretty different from the small and ladylike bags that are more commonplace at the French luxury house these days.

Resembling an Alma that has been extended vertically, there’s the addition of a thick canvas weave on the coated-canvas bags, which besides adding some visual interest, also adds support (and structure) to a bag that would otherwise be pretty floppy in the middle.

Available in Monogram Canvas or Monogram Reverse Canvas, both bags come finished with a pair of top handles that while are too short to wear over the shoulder, do come with an additional sling that solves that conundrum with ease. And while I’ve yet to receive its retail prices in Singapore, I’m pretty sure you can walk into any Louis Vuitton and find out more from the friendly SAs there.

And if you find yourself in a queue (because Louis Vuitton has been drawing such long lines lately), you can always play the game we atBagaholicboy specially created for LV, simply known as ‘V Mine’. Try it, it’s addictive.

Louis Vuitton Monogram Eclipse: Travel With Horizon

Travel

IMAGE: JSK FOR LOUIS VUITTON

The Horizon, also known as the luxurious rolling luggage designed by Marc Newson for Louis Vuitton, is quite simply a sight to behold inMonogram Eclipse. Basically the Black/Grey rendition of Monogram Canvas(you would know this if you’ve read the first and second posts of this series), you could say it has come full circle as far the Horizon is concerned.

In honour of his late father Louis Vuitton, who started the business making travelling trunks for the crème de la crème of society, Georges Vuitton created and dedicated the Monogram Canvas pattern to him all those years ago. Today, it continues to adorn the luggage pieces of modern travellers, with this being one of them.

Only available in size 55 as far as the Horizon in Monogram Eclipse is concerned, it’s only an ultra-light piece of the luggage, the SGD4250luggage measuring some 55 cm by 39 cm by 21 cm is also the ideal carry-on size for most airlines. Framed by a cane handle that tucks away completely when not in use, the larger than normal handle isn’t big just from a design perspective, it also allows for eased manoeuvrability. And with the 4 compact wheels at the bottom, moving from point to point within the airport (even if you’re in hurry and with a full luggage) would be easy.

IMAGE: JSK FOR LOUIS VUITTON

On the inside you’ll find generous compartments that are also flat, which is possible only because the cane handle is positioned at the sides and not in the middle like most other four-wheeled luggages. Finished with a pull zipper closure padlock system that’s also TSA-approved, this is the perfect carry-on for the executive on the go, shuttling from city to city on an almost weekly basis.

For this, and more pieces from the Monogram Eclipse collection, you can follow this link to have a look. Better yet, pop into Louis Vuitton boutiques across the island, including ION Orchard, Marina Bay Sands and Ngee Ann City to see how tradition and modernity have combined to culminate in the most beautiful effect.

Louis Vuitton Monogram Empreinte St Germain MM & PM

Louis Vuitton News

louis_vuitton_monogram-empreinte-st-germain-mm-pmWith Christmas around the corner (trust me, it’s really never too early to plan as far as X’mas is concerned), here are two more newish bags from the Monogram Empreinte that are worth a closer look. Though they are both called the St Germain, they are shaped and styled a tad differently, the larger of the two known as the MM (shown on the left) which measures 31 cm across by 23 cm, and the smaller PM (shown on the right) that comes in at 28 cm by 16 cm.

Featuring the soft and supple embossed leather that’s the most distinct feature of anything Monogram Empreinte, the slings on both shoulder bags are also adjustable, with gold-toned brass hardware finishing in the form of the S lock clasp. Lined in microfibre, you’ll find a smattering of compartments on the inside of both styles, the MM (SGD4050) built with a front pocket and 2 additional compartments, with the PM (SGD3100) featuring only one of each, a front pocket and a single compartment.

Clearly suited for the woman who’s slightly older, this could be the perfect companion to her Monogram Empreinte Montaigne MM which I covered earlier here, and a great option for the upcoming Christmas/Lunar New Year festivities, especially since both sizes would have no issues fitting in a hefty stack of red packets as well.
